BB’s Mocksville Bringing Pizza and Live Music to Salisbury Road
This concept combines New York-style pizza, bar service, and regular live music performances in a single venue.
MOCKSVILLE, NC — BB’s Mocksville, a new restaurant and live music venue from renown musicians Buddy Black and John Forbes, is targeting an opening in the coming weeks at 953 Salisbury Rd, Mocksville, NC 27028.
The team expects to open in approximately four to six weeks, Forbes told Business Debut.
What to Expect
BB’s Mocksville is designed as a pizza restaurant and bar with a built-in live music component. The concept will center on New York-style pizza alongside a full bar and regular performances.
The space is expected to accommodate around 200 guests indoors, with additional outdoor seating planned. Live music is expected to be a consistent part of the experience, with performances planned as often as nightly.
Menu and Vision
The menu will focus on New York-style pizza made with traditional fermentation techniques and a proper pizza oven. Forbes said the goal is to bring a higher-quality pizza offering to the area while keeping the concept approachable.
The vision blends food and entertainment, rooted in both owners’ backgrounds in music. “It’s a production. It’s a performance,” Forbes told Business Debut, describing how the culinary and music elements come together.
Ownership and Background
Buddy Black, a Mocksville native and blues artist, is returning to his hometown to open the business. “Sometimes you can’t go home, it’s just not the same, but it’s been not only the same, but better,” he told Business Debut. "My family is here, and that connection has meant a lot coming back and building something in this community."
Forbes, a performer and music producer with experience working on international tours and numerous other projects, met Black in 2016 at the Durham Performing Arts Center. The two later began collaborating professionally, with Forbes producing Black’s music before expanding their partnership into hospitality.
Their shared background in music and entertainment helped shape the concept, combining a performance-driven atmosphere with a food and beverage program.

The team is targeting an opening approximately four to six weeks after finalizing the building purchase.
They plan to focus first on establishing the Mocksville location before exploring potential expansion opportunities.
