Authentic Mexican Takeout Coming to Ocala

OCALA, FL — Tulum Mexican Grill is opening Wednesday, January 21, at 917 N Pine Ave, Ocala, FL 34475, according to Banesa Ajtun, who told Business Debut the restaurant will operate inside the Citgo gas station.

The new spot is designed primarily for takeout, though limited seating is available for customers who want to dine in. Ajtun said the goal is to offer authentic Mexican food made fresh daily while keeping service quick and accessible for the surrounding community.

What to Expect

Tulum Mexican Grill will operate as a counter-service restaurant with approximately 16 seats inside, including standard tables and bar-height seating. While most orders are expected to be to-go, guests are welcome to eat on-site.

Ajtun emphasized that the restaurant is located inside a gas station, making it an easy stop for quick meals without sacrificing quality or authenticity.

Menu and Vision

The menu will focus on traditional Mexican dishes, including tacos, quesadillas, and ramen-style quesadillas. Ajtun said all tortillas will be made in-house using fresh corn, and the kitchen will use Oaxaca cheese across several menu items.

“My parents are from Mexico, and we wanted to share our roots with the community,” Ajtun told Business Debut. She added that the food is meant to reflect the flavors and techniques she grew up with.

Ownership

The business is owned by Carlos Ajtun Coxaj, with Banesa Ajtun involved in daily operations. The couple previously operated a restaurant together and decided to open Tulum Mexican Grill as a fresh start.

Ajtun said the decision to open again came from a desire to keep moving forward and continue sharing their culture through food.
