A Look at Glide Pizza's Plans in South Downtown
This will be the brand's third Atlanta location.
ATLANTA, GA — Glide Pizza is opening a new South Downtown location at 191 Mitchell St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30303, with owner Rob Birdsong targeting a May opening, he told Business Debut. “We are going to be up and serving hot dogs, pizza, and cold beers in time for the World Cup,” Birdsong said.
What to Expect
The 3,000-square-foot restaurant is expected to have about 72 to 75 seats indoors, plus a shared courtyard with additional outdoor seating. Birdsong said the space will include a double-sided bar designed to serve both the dining room and the outdoor courtyard.
Menu and Vision
Birdsong said the menu will stay focused on pizza, wings, salads, appetizers and cocktails, with hot dogs also planned for pregame and event traffic. He added that the South Downtown location is expected to be more sit-down focused than Glide’s Beltline, window-service operation.
The new location will also introduce a vinyl record booth with turntables and a rotating record collection, along with DJs on a regular basis. Birdsong said the goal is “a little bit more of a party atmosphere” than Glide’s other locations.
Birdsong said South Downtown appealed to him because the district is aiming to be walkable and built around historic buildings, and he sees pizza as a natural fit for that kind of downtown. “I lived in New York City for a long time, and there’s just pizza everywhere… you can walk in and spend a couple of dollars, and then grab your slice and be on your way,” he told Business Debut.
Opening Timeline
Birdsong said the team is targeting a May opening ahead of the World Cup crowds expected downtown in June.
Hours
Hours of operation are to be announced. Birdsong said Glide expects to keep later hours on certain nights.
