Songbirds Wine Bar — University City

Address: 1030 E. W.T. Harris Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28213

Status: Targeting March–April opening; buildout in final phase and booking vendors.

What to expect: Music-forward coffee-by-day / wine-and-live-music-by-night hub with resources for independent artists (auditions, media support, mentorship) led by Ashley Hunt and Andre Hunt.

Menu highlights: Morning coffee program; wine list emphasizing smaller producers, including local and Black-owned brands.

Hours: Daily; coffee 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Bar and venue to midnight Mon–Fri, 1 a.m. Sat, 11 p.m. Sun.

Half Shell — South End (The Line)

Status: Now open.

What to expect: Upscale oyster and seafood spot with a raw bar; 3,200 sq. ft. interior (81 seats) plus ~50-seat patio. Five to six oyster varieties daily from the West Coast, New England, PEI, and NC boutique farms, per Jeffry Van Dyke.

Menu highlights: Lobster/shrimp rolls, tuna burger, grilled fish, crab cakes, ceviche, poke, and a couple of steaks. Sparkling-forward bar, ~40-bottle seafood-paired list, and classic martinis.
