From a new location for an established Italian concept, to a new ministry focused coffee shop, here's what you should know about Volusia County's developing restaurants.

Margarita Island Mexican Kitchen and Bar — New Smyrna Beach (former Azteca D’ Oro)
Full-service Mexican restaurant at 1960 FL-44, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168; targeting a late January opening (exact date TBA). Fifth location since the brand’s 2022 debut.
What to expect: About 180 seats and a full bar in a refreshed, tropical-inspired space. Casual, family-friendly atmosphere mirroring the Ormond Beach location.
Menu & vision: Same menu, drinks, and vibe as the other restaurants—Mexican staples plus a robust margarita program. Lunch and dinner daily, with weekend brunch planned.
Hours: Seven days a week; generally opening around 11 a.m. with later hours on weekends (final hours to be confirmed).
The Boardroom Coffee — Ormond Beach (Beachside)
Community coffee shop at 26 Bovard Ave, Ormond Beach, FL 32176; aiming for a mid-December debut.
What to expect: Surfboard-themed, beachy café open Mon–Sat 7 a.m.–3 p.m. About 35 seats inside plus a dog-friendly patio for 30–40.
Menu & partners: Fresh bakery items, waffles, and flatbreads. Coffee program by Steel Oak Coffee, which will also run day-to-day operations.
Extras: Attached assembly space seating ~120 for meetings and community events. Closed Sundays to the public for ministry use.
Hours: Mon–Sat 7 a.m.–3 p.m.; closed Sun.
Medicine Bar — Daytona Beach (Myrtle Lane)
Holistic wellness lounge and apothecary at 115 Myrtle Lane, Daytona Beach, FL 32114; bar and apothecary opening within six weeks (permits pending). Yoga studio is already open daily.
What to expect: Lounge-style seating for 50+ with couches and cozy group zones. A wellness bar pouring plant-powered elixirs, adaptogenic teas, botanical sodas, and a curated list of organic wines and local craft beers.
Menu & vision: Three Ayurvedic-inspired boards—Vata, Pitta, Kapha—plus kombucha on tap and medicinal teas. “Every drink does something good for your body” ethos.
Apothecary: Herbs, teas, tinctures, and handmade wellness goods; all bar ingredients available to take home.
Hours: Tue–Sat 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; closed Sun–Mon.
Via Canaletto II — South Daytona (S. Ridgewood Ave)
Italian and Mediterranean restaurant at 1871 S. Ridgewood Ave, South Daytona, FL 32119; slated for February–March 2026.
What to expect: “Industrial chic” design with indoor/outdoor dining and ~120–150 seats. A more casual sister to Via Canaletto in New Smyrna Beach.
Menu & vision: Scratch-made pastas, sauces, and cheeses; wood-fired artisan pizzas; European-inspired tapas. Full liquor bar plus a taproom-style craft beer program.
Team: Owner Leon Geller and Chef Antonio Mazzella bring fine-dining quality to a relaxed format. Family-run, disabled veteran–owned business.
Hours: Six days a week for lunch and dinner (specific days TBA). Potential upstairs speakeasy-style lounge pending city approval.
